Pale in Comparison

Sarah Palin makes her case to Hillary Clinton’s female supporters:

It was rightly noted in Denver this week that Hillary Clinton left 18 million cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceilings in American.  But, it turns out that the women of America aren’t finished yet, and we can still shatter that glass ceiling once and for all.

Barbara Boxer weighs in on the comparison:

The vice president is a heartbeat away from becoming president.  So to choose someone with not one hour’s worth of experience on national issues is a dangerous choice…  The only similarity between [Palin] and Hillary Clinton is that they are both women.  On the issues, they could not be further apart.

Senator McCain had so many other options if he wanted to put a women on his ticket, such as Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison or Senator Olympia Snowe – they would have been an appropriate choice compared to this dangerous choice.

Senator boxer’s criticism is right on the money.  However, only Senator Clinton herself has the power to end Palin’s transparent attempt to ride her coattails.  Senator Clinton must emphatically state that Palin is a radical conservative who wants to take womens’ reproductive rights back 30 years.

For most of America, Governor Palin remains a largely unknown quantity.  As the cliché goes, first impressions are lasting.  Senator Clinton has the power to shape the public’s perception of Palin by publicly identifying her as the radical conservative that she is.

My comment is that Palin, or any candidate, cannot have things both ways. If they insist on parading their “beautiful famliy,” including infants, in front of audiences, I think that comments regarding that family are acceptable. Of course, by comments, I do not mean anything mean or vitreous. Nothing like the way Palin attacked Obama would be appropriate.
